Snow parks in Meribel

As the buzz of the 2013/14 season stirs and rumbles, it is great to see Meribel is once again at the centre of not only the 3 Valleys (the world's largest ski area) but also at the centre of the kind of development that is contiinue to put Meribel right up there as one of the world's leading resorts. The rebrand of Meribel and separation of all the different districts that make up the Meribel valley are not what we are talking about here.

Meribel is resort on the move.

Last season  saw the opening of  brand new lifts to help make the 3 Valleys even more accessible than they already are. Last winter also saw the opening of the newly built Folie Douce, which was a resounding success in its first season and promises to be even bigger, better and more fun fuelled in what will be season number two. New hotels, new restaurants and new bars are all slotting into Meribel nicely. What makes all this such great news is that like all the previous developments in Meribel, these new developments have been planned and delivered in style and in keeping with what will always be a classic Alpine resort.

Meribel is not trying to be a Verbier or a Courcheval, to that end Meribel isn't even trying to be Val d'Isere. Meribel has an identity of its own, and thanks to right people with the right idea, Meribel is resort that simply keeps getting better and better.

Check out this video from the main snow park in Meribel. This is goes to show how Meribel is mixing the classic and the contemporary.

As a place to spend a season, which I was lucky enough to do last season, when it comes to Meribel,  I can't think of anywhere better.

If you are planning on doing a winter season this year, take a close look at Meribel.

I can't wait to get back out there!
