We’ve done the research for you and have listed our top “must have” apps for the season. Whether you’re out for a season, an instructor course, or a family holiday download these and it will help improve your all round mountain experience both off and on the piste!

1. Ski Tracks – Ever wondered how fast you have gone, or how many miles you covered in a day? Ski Tracks is a GPS track recorder and is the premier tracking application for skiers and snowboarders. 2. Alpine Replay – Track your day on the mountain with AlpineReplay by measuring speed, distance, vertical, Calories and more. Made by skiers and snowboarders for skiers and snowboarders. We automatically separate your runs, tell you which chair lifts you've taken, clock your time on the chairlift and much more!

6. The Ski Club of Great Britain – Great up to date information on all the local conditions at a wide range of resorts. Free to download

Looking for an adventure, but want to be safe?

7. Ski Maps – If you fancy going off piste for the afternoon, this clever little app allows you to download a ski resort map to your mobile and find your exact position, and way back, by using your phone's GPS positioner. £1.99 from the App Store.

What does it look like up top?

8. Ski Webcams – Snow reports are all well and good but sometimes you want to see the slopes for yourself. This app has more than 1,500 webcams available from more than 400 resorts worldwide, many in high definition. Free download.

9. Ski School Intermediate – Give this “lesson app” a spin. It features ski instructor Darren Turner, who gives handy tips and demonstrations for the intermediate skier. Also enables you play a video of you turning, against an instructor. £2.99 from the App Store.

Something to do before dinner…

10. iTrailMap3D – Relax in your hotel/chalet after a hard day's skiing, grab a beer and compare your routes and tracks with your friends using this 3D map and tracking app. When you get home, you can export the info to Google Earth. £2.99 from the App Store.
