The way that 2011 has finished has filled us all with great joy about 2012, we’re writing this from a very snow filled Val d’Isere. We have had about two foot of snow over the past 48 hours, with the majority falling last night, so the mood in the town is exceptional with people able to ride the sort of conditions on the piste, that would normally require a backcountry mission.

We’ve got 6 days before the our season officially kicks off over here, we have had a few early arrivals who have been loving the snowy conditions, and with over 45 in resort it’s going to be our largest group for a couple of years, and everyone in resort is excited to see so many customers coming out to share the season in such a great resort.

The snow keeps falling in the mountains as the village gets ready for New Years celebrations, we’ve got fireworks organised in the town centre, and then it’s off to one of the famous Val night spots to make sure the celebrations are capped off in style.

However, with the snowfall being quite so amazing, and a clear day forecast for tomorrow you’ll find that there are two ways of celebrating Hogmanay, one is in the small hours of the night (Le Petit Danois is open ALL night!) and the other way of celebrating will be with an early night, an early start, and a full days powder skiing the next day.

Hard to say which way we’ll play it, best to let the New Years spirit decide!
