Meribel Diary Week 8

DCIM100GOPRO

So here we are the end of Meribel Week 8. Another week of trials and tribulations and many hours of skiing later people are starting to get themselves ready for the BASI 2. Also well done to Eleanor, Elliott, Meghan and Issy for passing their Level 1 Reassessment.

With BASI 2 Assessments coming up next week the heat is on the two BASI groups. They have been training hard both with the BASS instructors and by themselves to prepare their central theme and long and short turns. You can certainly see the nerves starting to show in some people but we hope they all come through and ski to their abilities.

This weekend all BASI combatants have been doing a 2 Day First Aid course to prepare them for some of the situations that may appear on the mountain. Many times they have been looking at patching people up in all different ways.

The performance group has been concentrating on all sorts of terrain as always with time spent concentrating on their technique in different sorts of terrain. The group has skied some pretty knarly runs such as Jean Blanc and the Grand Couloir. Next week promises to be more of the same with instructors Greg and Oliver. Bring on the whole Three Valleys

With the performance skiers not training on Thursday they organised their own Valley Rally where they tripped all over the 3 Valleys completing various challenges before coming back to the chalet for a special birthday dinner with cake, party hats, party plates, pass the parcel and other games. This was very much enjoyed by all with much merriment and cheer. On the flip side there were a couple of sore heads in the morning.
