Meet the Val d'Isere Basecamp Instructors

This week we have 50cm of snow forecast in Val d'Isere, a promosing sign with the lifts opening in the next few weeks. Basecamp courses are due to start on the 11th January, however a bunch of guys are arrving at the beginning of December to take advantage of the early season conditions. Basecamp have apartments for the season allowing our those keen the chance to head out early.

Joe is heading out on Thursday to manage our early seasonaires and will be joined by Tom and Dave at the end of December in time for the courses starting on the 11th January.

We are very much looking forward to introducing Basecampers to our team of world class instructors who will be deliverying our coaching programs. Meet our head instructors for the instructor and performance courses:

Steve Rickets – Head BASI Ski Instructor
Nationality: British

Job Title with Basecamp: Head BASI Ski Coach
Where's home: Norway and Tignes
Qualifications: BASI ISTD Level 4
Steve has been a ski instructor for 25 years and has worked all around the world. Steve descirbes himself to be  still in love the way of life in the mountains and is more passionate about training others to become ski instructors than anyone else.


Olivier Lipps – Head Snowboard Performance Coach
Nationality: French

Job title with BC: Head Performance and Freestyle coach
Where’s home? Tignes
Qualifications: French Ski and Snowboard Certificate
Olivier has been with Basecamp for 4 years and has been skiing and snowboarig for the last 20. His experience and knowledge of the Espace Killy is fornomial and being taught by him is an absoulte dream. Olivier has held the French Ski and Snowboard qualifications for 12 years and thrives at getting on the mountain with Basecampers to show them what it's all about. 
 

Neil McNair – Head BASI Snowboard Coach
Nationality: British

Basecamp Job Title: Head BASI Snowboard Coach
Where's home? Tignes, France (one lift away from Val D'Isere)
Snowboard Qualifications: BASI Level 4 ISTD, Snowboard Trainer
Neil is a world class snowboard coach and has been riding for over 22 years all over the world with some of the best snowboarders on the planet. He has been teaching Basecamp students for 8 years and the feedback we get year after year never lessens our expectations.
 

Remy Schmitt – Head Ski Performance Coach
Nationality: French

Basecamp Job Title: Performance Ski Coach
Where's home? Val d'Isere
Ski Qualifications: French Qualification
Remy has been skiing for 49 years and has skied all over the world, riding some of the best and most challenging terrain. He has been part of the Basecamp team for 10 years and always provides an exciting, thorough and professional teaching experience for the Basecampers.
