We are now into our third day at the 2013 Independent Schools Ski Championships, and we could not have been luckier with the conditions! Whilst there is not enough snow to be able to open up the stade at the base of the resort, the conditions up top are nothing short of superb, with good dry soft snow and plenty of sunshine; very Spring like conditions for this time of year!

We have over 100 pupils in resort from all over the country, all of whom arrived on Friday. We have Lancing College, Bradfield College, Hurstpierpoint, Kings College Wimbledon, Packwood Haugh, Whitgift School, Canford School and Wycombe Abbey all out here taking part in the event.

After a long travel day getting to resort (Friday) the first two days on the mountain (yesterday and today) are spent training with the instructors, it has been a long term at school for everyone and the majority of the students have not skied for a while, so yesterday was all about re-discovering the ski legs and re-building their confidence on the mountains. Today we will be doing some specific race training to gain a bit of experience passing gates. Some pupils have never raced before, some are more experienced, but the spririt of the event is very much an introduction to racing so it is always exciting to see good holiday skiiers take to the race track for the first time. You never know what to expect!

Last night we had a Mountain Safety presentation from Olivier Lipps, which was hugely educational, and tonight after the days skiing we will be hitting the bowling alley for a fun evening before the first day of races tomorrow.

Enjoy the video below, we will be doing two more as the event goes on.

Thanks for tuning in.

Linley Lewis
