Banff Course Wrap Up.

Longer sunny days on the mountain and the start of patio season in town must meant that spring is officially with us here in Canada. While it’s the start of party season on the mountain it’s a bittersweet time for us here at Basecamp as the Banff instructor program has come to a close.

The crew on the course sat the CSIA/CASI level 2 exams and we are pleased to announce that we had the highest success rate of any of the instructor training programs in the region (there’s at least 5 in Banff alone) Thanks to all the basecampers and their trainers at the Lake Louise Ski Area for all the hard work they put in over the 11 weeks.

After the level 2 we include another week of freestyle training in the program, the trainers take out the groups and get them to apply everything they learned to the park and freeride terrain. Its pretty much a week of skiing gnarly terrain and trying to jump and spin off as much stuff as possible. The week finishes off with the chance to take the park instructor certification.

The final weekend we always have a BBQ where the resort staff go to work cooking up a feed for groups and making sure they always have a cold beverage in their hands. That gets everyone lined up for one more huge night before catching flights the following day.

The season is far from over out here though and after seeing how awesome spring can be out here a large portion of our crew has decided to stay on and make the most of their season passes, definitely a wise decision for them.

Here is a little slideshow of some key moment from the 11 week course. From all the staff at Basecamp, thanks for an awesome season. Were looking forward to seeing lots of you back working in the resort next season.
