Banff 4 Week Course Wrap Up

Its hard to believe that we are already a month in to the season and while the time has gone by in a flash we have still squeezed a lot into the last 4 weeks here in Banff.

We’ve had an unreal amount of snow for this time of year, all lifts we spinning by the second week of the course and were graced with one of the biggest snowfalls I have seen in 10 years out here, 133cm’s in a 7 day period. That lead to most of our terrain opening weeks ahead of schedule and 4 days of endless face shots. Getting first lines of the season through some of our tree runs is something that will still out in the groups minds for a long time to come.

While the riding is world class here in Banff its not just the on snow experience that makes this course one of the best times you will ever have. We spent our evenings eating some of the best Alberta raised steak and washed it all down with way too many $3 jagerbombs. Of course you need to get involved with the local culture wherever you travel so we made sure we got involved in some stereotypical Canadian events like curling and a bingo evening at the legion. We had a few skeptics at first but everyone’s enthusiasm quickly changed ones they started getting rich with bingo winnings.

Between all the pow turns and evenings out we managed to get a lot of effective training accomplished with the snow school team. We are pleased to say that once again we had a 100% pass rate on the level 1 exams. Thanks to the trainers and the groups for putting in a solid effort and doing us proud.

Unfortunately our course has wrapped up but that does not spell the end of the season for most of our crew. With their instructor certifications under their belts a lot of our group are starting to get placement in snow schools throughout the area, with that comes a free ski and an opportunity to ride every day for the next 5-6 months. We will be keeping you filled in on all the shenanigans they get up to throughout the season.

Our basecamp staff have a bit of a break between now and the kick off of our January course and there is another storm cycle blowing through this week so they should get some well deserved pow turns in before things kick off again. Make sure you keep an eye on our instagram and facebook for all the updates from the team on the ground.
