Basecamp Alumni, Sarah Dinham, Banff 12 week course

In this update we catch up with Sarah from England who was part of our 12 week instructor course back in 2010. Since the course she in Banff lived here pretty much full-time and has even become a Canadian resident. Lets see what she has to say about our programs.

What Basecamp course did you do and did it help you to get to where you are?

I did the 3 month instructor training program in Banff in 2010 and completed my level 1 & 2 CSIA during that time. The course was great. It let me meet a wide range of people and led to me getting a job with LLSA. I worked there for 3 seasons and achieved my level 3. Basecamp prepped me for my time teaching well so I felt prepared and pretty confident when I started. It also meant I already knew some of my new work buddies which was great. It also meant that I discovered Banff, my now home. Without it I would probably not have travelled here and be living here right now!

What are your plans for the coming winter season?

This winter I’ll be working at the Juniper Hotel in my current role. I plan to spend as much time skiing as possible. I sometimes am able to get a few turns in before I head to the office which is an incredible luxury that I like to rub in people’s faces whenever I can! I also plan to travel to Whistler and get out Cat Skiing again as that was unbelievably fun.

Would you recommend a Basecamp course to others?

I would definitely recommend the course to other people. It’s a great way to travel worry-free and know that you will have a good time whilst your away. It provides you with an instant set of new friends for you to live and ski with whilst your here. Skiing and learning teaching methods all week and then having the weekend to ski even more was so amazingly fun, I would LOVE to do it all again.
