Yet another incredible week here in Val d’Isere, we couldn’t have been more lucky with the weather conditions. Having received almost 3 metres of snow in the two weeks before New Year, the skiing has been unbelievable. It started to get a bit icy in parts, and just in time we received another 80cm over the weekend and the sun is now shining and reflecting off the metres of snow outside my window…bliss.

Yesterday was the start of the BASI Level 1 exam, which the guys have been preparing for in the last two weeks. There were a few nervous faces yesterday morning, however I have had a chat to all of them and given them advice on how to go about the week ahead. Their examiners are all great and I am expecting some good results come Friday, fingers crossed we will be celebrating on Friday. I am organising a night out on Friday and am hoping to get a big table at a restaurant with a few drinks afterwards.

The performance skiers and snowboarders are having a whale of a time with some off piste training this week. The snow is in our favour and some of the lines they have been hitting are unreal. All their instructors are providing them with the correct avalanche equipment and are sharing their years of mountain experience with the Basecampers. The smiles on their faces have been priceless and they couldn’t be more stoked with the skiing and riding they have been doing.

This weekend it’s time to kick back and relax after a busy week. I have a few things up my sleeve to create some fun and an awesome atmosphere. On Saturday we are having an igloo building competition. I have split everyone into 7 teams and it’s on. The challenge is to build the best looking igloo and the first team to have everyone seated inside having a picnic wins…simple. Photos and videos to follow of course.

On Sunday, weather permitting we are aiming to have a big lunch at the solaise restaurant, which is located at the top of the Val d’Isere mountain. I am organising a great deal for everyone and it should be a really fun afternoon.

We have a great forecast this week, with some sun until Friday when it’s going to snow and then some more sun over the weekend. Life couldn’t get any better and the stoke factor is through the roof. Enjoy the video and until next time,

Au revoir from Val d’Isere,

Tom
