Whistler 2010 Week 5

This week we focused primarily on the central theme and carving so that the skiers were more physically prepared for their level 2.Off the piste though we all made a trip to the ski factory to show the guys how skis are made and to give them a greater insight to just how hard they are to make! After this we continued on to The Old Spaghetti Factory to fill up on carbs. On Sat everyone came prepared with their backpacks, extra clothes, lunch, shovels, probes and transceivers ready to go for our Avalanche Awareness Course field day, Jeff & Ryan our wonderful Whistler Alpine guides split the group into 2, however it only happened to be one of the coldest and windiest days so far this season -18 degrees, with the wind-chill factor making it even colder!…It was hard going, boot packing and hiking up through Symphony (which hadn’t opened yet) and up over into the Flute bowl, along the ridge. All in all a fun week and everyone took away a lot.
