Val d'Isere Week 1

Everyone has settled in nicely in the first week here. Arrival day was greeted with blue skies, sunshine and powder so the Basecamper’s got their snow fix with a free day skiing before lessons began.

The lessons have got off to a good start. Gareth has managed to get the prize for best crash as he wiped out one of the instructors on day 3! One ski group has already experienced the hidden valley, one of the most notorious runs in Val. There was no margin for error and no room to turn!! The snowboarders have been impressed with their instructor who manages to hand plant off everything and spin 5’s off the tiniest jumps. The first day off, Sunday was an amazing blue sky powder day where everyone was able to have free reign of the mountain and get to know the area a little better.

Jack seems to be enjoying après a little more than others!! Apparently taking 2 hrs to get unchanged for bed at 8.30pm…………….good effort!! The older members of the team are doing their lunges/stretches during apres. The bar crawl on Saturday night was a success, ending up with some crazy dance moves in Dicks T bar, even G man was cutting some shapes!!

There is plenty of fresh snow on and off piste to keep us all entertained for the forthcoming week. If the sun holds up we will be heading to The Folie Douce for some apres this week. Lessons start again tomorrow and already people are reporting improvement in their style, confidence, speed etc so let’s hope this week is as good as the last.
