Handpicked for our experience, enthusiasm and total passion for our adventure sport courses – we’re here to make every step of your trip exciting, fulfilling and great fun.
Between us, we’ve not only clocked up an unfeasible amount of hours on the slopes, on the water and in the wind, but we also have many professional qualifications and sporting achievements under our collective belt. Add to that our strong business skills and absolute commitment to the highest possible standards of customer service, care and safety, and you’ll begin to get a picture of what the Base Camp philosophy all about.

UK Office
Fergie Miller, Director
Fergie’s enthusiasm for the slopes was apparent at the tender age of two, when he learned to ski whilst living in Japan. A few years on, he competed in the Junior British Championships. Spending his ski seasons in Europe and North America, Fergie soon became a qualified ski instructor in both the Canadian and British systems.
With over 10 years in the sports industry behind him (including a stint at IMG, the world’s largest sports marketing and management company), and despite spending more time in the office than he would like, Fergie is still well known for never missing a powder day while in resort.
Alex Berman, Sales & Operations
While studying Geology in the Alps at Oxford Brookes University, Alex decided that instead of looking at the rocks, riding down them would be far more fun. Although Alex’s passion for riding started comparatively late in life, at the grand old age of 19, he’s more than made up for it since.
He’s spent two years working at Skibound, Firstchoice/TUI’s specialist school travel arm, where he managed and operated countless school trips and other tours. With a clear taste for adventure, Alex is also a devoted water sports enthusiast, so as well as a wealth of practical knowledge, he also brings considerable operational experience and an exceptional customer service ethos to Base Camp.
Guillaume Marchant, European Operations Manager
It has to be said that Guillaume likes to run a tight ship. Monsieur Marchant is a formidable character – always on time and never without a good England/France joke.
As well as experience working for several tourist boards, Guillaume has also spent 6 years teaching ski & snowboard with UCPA (France's largest sport holiday operator) and ClubMed. He is fluent in German, Italian and English, as well as his native French, and his comical honesty provides plenty of laughs along the way.
Helen Nicholls, PR & Marketing
Helen is the newest member of the Base Camp team, having joined us at our London HQ in July last year. Helen first put on ski boots at the age of 4 in Bardonecchia and has since skied the best resorts in the US, Canada, Switzerland, Austria and France. Our resident Red-head is also a huge surfing fan and our in-house blogger/tweeter/facebooker.
Seasonal staff
Our Resort Managers work alongside the coaches in resort to make sure that all your needs are met when your not training in your particular sport. The team are in constant contact with the UK office and before each season we spend a considerable time planning and preparing for your course.

Julie met her husband Mitch in Utila, and now they have two girls, both born on the mainland of Honduras. Julie and her husband and have owned Alton's Dive Center since 2000, and we love what we do. Julie became an instructor in2004 and although her and Mitch don't teach now, they complement each other very well in the dive center. Mitch takes care of dock and hotel design, boats, equipment and tanks, etc. And Julie is more of the administrative and marketing person, and new videographer!
She said herself that 'we're very fortunate and thankful to live in Utila, which is just paradise, with mainly sun year round. I love to be involved in introducing people to this whole other world called scuba diving. 70% of the earth's surface is covered in water, so people are really missing out if they don't dive! It's our passion and we love it, and we love to have the opportunity to be part of it for others as well, providing them with a safe and professional environment to learn and dive'.
