CASI Level 1: The entry level snowboard instructor qualification for teaching novices and young children how to snowboard.

The Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors (CASI) Level 1 is an introduction to the CASI technique and methodology, and the role of snowboard teaching within the industry.

CASI Level 2: Having completed the Level 1 award, Level 2 is the next level for snowboarding in the Canadian system looking to start teaching intermediate snowboarders out on the mountain. Both the training and final examination for this award require dedicated training and a high level of riding.  Historically Basecamp students have enjoyed a high level pass rate, and this is something we pride ourselves on. Whilst the CASI award enables you to teach all over the world, you will have discovered Canada now and will find it hard to go anywhere else.

More About CASI
CASI Mission Statement “to set the standard for the profession of snowboard teaching.”

CASI are members of the ISIA (International Ski Instructors Association) and all CASI qualifications are globally recognised throughout the snow sports industry
How good do you have to be at snowboarding before the course?

On our Instructor courses we say that you have to be able to be comfortable riding red runs before the start of the course. The CASI Level 1 will be in your third week, so you'll be getting assessed fairly quickly, but don't worry it's not a very technical exam.

If you would like to head out to the resort before hand in order to have a week or two's snowboarding and dust off the cobwebs please speak to your course advisor, as this is something we can arrange.

What are my chances of getting a job post course?
Over the course you will be doing your training directly with Lake Louise Ski and Snowboard School. To give you some statistics they employ over 100 instructors, and 50 new instructors at the start of each season, and from this 50 about 30 of them are graduates from the 11 week instructor programme. So if you're focused on getting a job, and make a good impression on your instructors you stand a great chance of graduating to employment.

By doing the course am I guaranteed a qualification?

All the qualifications are assessments, so you are not guaranteed the qualification. This course's sole focus is about getting you the Level 1 and 2 qualification, so all the training you receive gears you up for the awards.

Our pass rate is extremely high.

What if I'm travelling on my own?

The majority of people will do this course as solo travellers. There is a large Basecamp community in resort, and your Resort Manager will make sure you're quickly introduced to everyone.
