Meribel - Heart of the 3 Valleys

Meribel is the heart of the famous 3 Valleys and where it all began for Basecamp. Although the 3 Valleys is home to 3 main resorts, there are actually a total of 18 resorts within the valleys giving you some indication of just how popular this region is. Beware, a season in Meribel is highly addictive!

As well as the two main resorts, Méribel and Méribel-Mottaret, the valley also includes a number of traditional villages. Together they form one of the most popular destinations for British skiers (the resort was, in fact, founded by a British Colonel, Peter Lindsay, in 1938). Throughout the winter the resort is packed with people, from 1 week holiday makers to full seasonaires, so meeting people is never an issue.

Meribel is located in the middle of Courchevel and Val Thorens and has a lively town centre with loads of good shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. The town itself is 1400 metres above sea level, on average slightly lower than most French resorts, however only being 1 lift away from a huge variety of terrain is a huge advantage.

There is a huge abudance of apres venues and Meribel itself is well known for having great places to enjoy a drink after a long day on the mountain. Whether your looking for a great skiing area, good night life, delicious food or simply somewhere to meet people, Meribel has something to offer for everyone and that's why Basecamp love it so much!
