The South African Road trip offers a surf travel experience that includes visiting 5 of the surfing communities favourite South African destinations showcasing world class conditions. As well as 6 weeks of focused surf coaching TTRide African Road Trips give Riders the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of rewarding projects that put something back into the local community.
The World In One Country
Ranked sixth out of the world’s seventeen megadiverse countries, South Africa is the ideal place to enjoy the Road trip of a lifetime. South Africa also recognises 11 official languages: Afrikaans, English, Ndebele, Northern Sotho, Sotho, Swazi, Tswana, Tsonga, Venda, Xhosa and Zulu as well as reconising a further 8: Fanagalo, Khoe, Lobedu, Nama, Northern Ndebele, Phuthi, San and South African Sign Language. See if you can learn to say 'hello' in all 19 by the end of your trip!
The Locations
The itinerary for the 6 week Road trip covers all the core locations travelling west to east along the SA coastline, making it the perfect way to see South Africa in a short period of time.
Cape Town (9 days)
Landing in Cape Town, Riders spend their first nine days learning the basics of surfing, getting involved with local TTRide community projects and taking in the sites that have made Cape Town one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world.
Plettenberg Bay (7 days)
After travelling along the Garden Route we reach Plettenberg Bay; here Riders spend another week combining their surf development with more unforgettable experiences that underline why South Africa’s coastline is uncomparable to anywhere else in the world.
Jeffreys Bay (10 days)
Home to the world’s best right hand point break. Ten days in J-bay gives Riders a chance to really settle in and enjoy dividing their time between surfing the best waves in the world and involvement in a range of TTRide community to projects.
Coffee Bay (7 days)
Coffee Bay and its surrounding area have remained in a time warp whereby time has stood brilliantly still and communities are still functioning in the same way as they have done for centuries.
Balitto (9 days)
The final nine days are spent in the tranquility of The Secret Spot surf camp, and short drive away from the famous Golden Mile, and endless surfing possibilities on the North Coast.
Extra Activities
In order to ensure that your time in South Africa is lived to the full, we have included a handful of extra activities to round off the excellent adventure:
World's Highest Bungee Jump
Not for the faint hearted! Just East of Plettenberg Bay is Bloukrans Bridge "The Worlds Highest Commercial Bungee Jump". Coming in at a cool 216m Riders will have the chance to test their nerves whilst jumping off Africa's largest Bridge.
Climb Table Mountain
Probably South Africa's most famous landmark, Riders will have the opportunity to climb to it's summit, and soak in the outstanding views over Cape Town (weather permitting!)
Wine Tour
A tour around the historic Klein Constantia in Cape Town's most celebrated wine region.
Lion Park
You simply can't go to South Africa and not see Lions. In the park our Riders will hold Lion Cubs, play with the teenage Lions, and simply stand back in awe at the power of the adult Lions.
Flowrider
A definite must for any aspiring surfer! Durban's flowrider is the only of it's type in the Southern Hemisphere, and after months of tuition in the ocean our Riders have the chance to test their skills on an artificial standing wave.
