With an an average of 330 days of sun per year we guarantee you'll be heading home with a suntan!

Surfing

berebere.jpgAll the action starts at the Surf Berebere. The Surf Camp is based in the small fishing village of Taghazout, South West Morocco, overlooking Hash Point, just one of the many great surfing spots in the surfing Mecca of Morocco, right on their doorstep. The other two main surf spots in Taghazout are Anchor Point and Killer Point, which are a 5 and 10 minutes walk away respectively.

Morocco offers quality surfing for beginners, intermediates and advanced riders. For intermediates and advanced surfers, there is a plethora of point breaks that will meet your needs; Devil's rock, Panoramas, Hash Point, Anchor Point, Killer Point, Dracula’s, Boilers, Tamri and Immesouane to name but a few are all within an hour of the surf camp.

80% of the guests that have previously attended courses have had less than 2 weeks experience under their belt before coming out. So if you have had little or no experience at all, this is no a problem at all.

SURF BERBERE

The Team

James

Having started the camp back in 2006 many a day has been spent working on his tan. Some may say his surfing has suffered as a result. They would be right. But on those rare days when the rays don’t get through, Jimbo will venture out into the water offering encouragement and support to all the beginners. Having only been surfing for a short time, he understands the needs of the newcomers to surfing and has tailored Surf Berbere to help teach surfing to all standards.

Matt

The surf camp manager is recently out of College, Matt headed up the Manchester University Surf Club, and having spent a Summer out in Morocco in his holidays, decided that he never wanted to leave the place. By no means a pro in the surfing world, he has the crew haircut and scars to make Harry Potter look like a fairy. Always up for a laugh and a regular visitor to the local nightlife he is there to ensure that all of your holiday needs are looked after!

Equipment

If you don't have your own board or you do not want to go through the hassle of transporting it, then Surf Berbere will provide you with the perfect surf board to cater for your level and the conditions that you will be learning to surf in. If you're not happy with the board that they provide, then you can always change it for no extra cost. There is a huge quiver on site in the surf camp and you can swap around during your stay, giving you the chance to try all sorts of short and longbaords.

Wetsuits are also included in the coaching price so everything required to give you the best experience possible is catered for.

Coachingsurf_coaching.jpg

Surf Berbers coaches have been surfing all their lives. They have competed in many competitions and have had  years of experience coaching all levels of surfer. They will help you with your bottom turns, your cutbacks, your floaters, and every possible manouver that you need to work on.

The coaches know the surrounding waters like the back of their hands as a result of being locals to the area. So with Surf Berbere you get to avoid all the hassle, ride the waves that you are due, and so long as you respect the line-ups, the other surfers in the water will respect you.

4x4's are driven to the more remote surf spots in Taghazout, where no tourist will ever hope to be able to find. The knowledge of the instructors and the power of the 4x4's will surely grant you with the most deserted and longest rides that you would ever wish for.

The Coaches

Momo

Surf Berbere's head surf instructor and surf guide. If there’s a wave breaking, Momo’ll be there. The Immouzer longboarder is a kind and courteous instructor, willing to get into the water no matter what the conditions just to give you that extra little push for when you are getting started. Something of a Casanova in the Taghazout region, Momo is the king of the Agadir nightlife!

Hassan

The resident photographer and media man. Famed for his incredible body boarding skills (top 5 in the UK for drop-knee) and mad geography knowledge (he thought Mt Everest was in the French Alps), Hassan can be found either editing his latest surf movie or at the beach snapping away at the guests, capturing the moment when you get barrelled in double over head swell!

Hicham

Hicham is possibly the smiliest man in Morocco! And who wouldn’t be if you could surf like he can. Give him something that resembles a board, and something that resembles a wave and he’ll be off. He is a laid back character that has surfed all of his life. He devotes most of his spare time to the development of the Imouran surf club, a small charity surf association, helping kids learn to surf.

Simo

“If Carlsburg did chefs....” or on second thoughts, “if Carlsburg did dancers...!”. Simo is the legendary cook who will whip up the best food you’ll eat in your entire stay in Morocco. From tagines to couscous to omelettes to BBQs, the pint sized chef has got it covered. Always one for a party, Simo will bang away all night long – on a drum that it is. Or give him a couple of beers and he’ll show you some not-so-traditional Moroccan dancing!

Surf Berbere House, Roof TerraceAccommodation

The Surf Berbere Surf Camp is made up of five apartments right on the sea-front in Taghzout. Every morning you will wake up to 180 degree views of an azur blue ocean peppered with hundreds of tiny fishing boats.

Each apartment is equipped with a bathroom and basic cooking facilities as well as satetlite TV and high speed WiFi internet access. The terrace at the top of the camp has the best view in Taghazout and is a great lookout point for Anchor Point, Hash Point and Panoramas.

There is the option to stay in luxury Killer Point apartments a short distance down the road, which includes an infinity pool.

Most of the guests stay at the Surf Berbere Hash Point Surf Camp, as you don't really need a pool when you have the ocean within spitting distance of your front door!
